Fishers of Men

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”

That statement was uttered by Jesus fairly early in the ministry years of His life. Right after he came back from the temptation in the wilderness he sets out to gather His closest companions for those years of ministry. And so He comes to the sea of Galilee and sees Andrew and Simon casting their nets out into the waters and he said those historic words.

So what does it mean to become a fisher of men? It means being willing to follow Him. Being willing to learn from Him. And being willing to do what he says. Just like His disciples did. They spent time with Him. They sat under His teaching. And they followed His instructions.

His instructions were to follow Him. His instructions were to do ministry wherever our feet are. And His instructions were to spread the Good News of new life in Him. So whatever you do today, remember to sit at the master’s feet and follow his perfect will.
