Take the opportunity…

Have you ever prayed that God would bring someone to you that needs your help? Lately, I have been wondering the veracity of a prayer like that. It is not that I think God does not arrange opportunities, it is just that I think that the opportunities already exist all around us, but our eyes are closed to them. I think a more accurate prayer would be “Lord, Open my eyes to see the opportunities that are all around me today”. We see the account of Elisha and his servant surrounded by the army of his enemy. The Servant is in distress, because of the ‘reality’ around them. This prompts Elisha to pray the following..

And Elisha prayed, “O LORD, open his eyes so he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (2 kings 6:17)

We need to pray the same prayer, so that God will reveal the opportunities to us that He has for us today, and so that we also see that He is with us when we are in His will. That when we do His work, God wants us to succeed. Today, lets make our prayer- “Lord open my Eyes” and expect Him to do it.
