Hope In All Situations

I know what it is to be in need and I know what it is to have plenty.I have learned to be content in any and every situation (Philippians 4:12)

A friend of mine recently sent me that scripture. I know what it is like to be in need and to have plenty. What I, like may people struggle with,  is the ‘content’ part. Sometimes we struggle with being content. The contentment in all situations, is something that we learn over time. It takes practice and patience. Some times we will fail and some times we will succeed, but like the old adage says, ‘Practice makes perfect’.

We seek that perfection in trusting Him. Paul continues on in verse 13 saying

I can do everything through Him who gives me strength

That is the key, we need to immerse ourselves in His presence more each day. We need to find ourselves in deeper times of prayer and deeper times of meditating on  His word. We need to, as the scripture says, hide His words in our hearts. We as a society struggle with doing that though. It goes against our media driven society. Everything flashy and everything  in a fast food manner.  Can I encourage you to do something over the next few days. Take 10 minutes each day for the next week, turn off all electronics and just sit quietly a meditate on one verse of scripture each day and quietly ask God to speak to you. Each week increase it a few minutes. If you do this, your relationship will improve with the Father.

Then we will be able to start saying like Paul, that we are content in every situation, because our contentment does not come from the stuff we have or don’t have, but the fact that our relationship with Christ is growing. HOPE is found in deeper times with Him. So you who are without HOPE, find that HOPE in knowing Him.
