You’ve got a Friend

In 1996 David Letterman published his nightly Top Ten list. His list for that night was “Top Ten Signs  You Have No Friends”. It is a very funny list (Click here to see list), and includes zingers like “You go to a video store and say out loud to yourself, “Well, what do you want to rent tonight?””. We can all laugh at things like that, but the reality is, that many people feel lonely. Many people who come into churches week after week feel very lonely and are searching for deeper relationships with other people and with God. As we continue along in the book of Jude, we see that he addresses this issue.

But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love. (Jude 1:20-21)

This Journey we are on, this faith walk, this relationship with Jesus, is not meant to be one of loneliness. It is not meant to be a journey of a Lone Ranger mentality that I can do it myself. I believe that many Christians struggle in their walk, because they do not and will not share their struggles with other Christians. Today, for your spiritual health, find a prayer partner, a person you trust to keep confidence and share with them the struggles you face, and pray about the issues. Listen to each other and hold one another up. Be the brothers and sisters  (in the faith) to each other, that Jesus told us to be.

Keep on HOPING in JESUS!

  1. Sometimes a person reaches out to us and because we are not used to interacting with that person in that particular way, we totally miss the opportunity.

Often times we offend and turn off the person and they shutus out. We should always be mindful and alert. If not at the exact moment, we should always follow-up to see how the person is doing.
