So that was why He did it…

To the natural eye the turning water  into wine miracle seems very random and almost a ‘silly’ miracle. I am sure there were people in that town that needed healing, and where would this rank compared to health? Pretty low I think. But the fact the Jesus demonstrated that He had the power to change the properties of water to make it into an entirely different thing just at his voice, was amazing. It reveals to us that Jesus has the ability to change even our foibles and make them into something better. That He can change our unbelief into belief. That was exactly what happened to the disciples, as we continue reading in John 2:11-12;

This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him. After this He went down to Capernaum, He, His mother, His brothers, and His disciples; and they did not stay there many days.

Amazing isn’t it? It started with what we would call a ‘silly sign’ that Jesus began to transform the hearts of His disciples. And it didn’t happen in the religious institution of the day, but it happened at a social gathering. That shows us that Jesus want to not only be a part of our Church experience, but also in our social experience? If you come to church praying to be transformed, but then exclude Jesus from your social life, how do you think the transformation will go?

Until tomorrow, be blessed.
