A Call to Prayer

A few weeks ago, I received a letter from another Toronto area pastor asking our church to join with his in a day of fasting and prayer for lost souls. In the letter he shared PAOC statistics that showed that conversions (people giving their hearts to Jesus) had fallen from about 25,000 per year in previous years to around the 13,000-14,000 in the past two years. It was a 41% drop. It grieved his heart and it grieved mine as well.

So why this drop off? Not just a slight decline but a major drop. Are we afraid to share about the GRACE of Jesus. Are we afraid to offend someone with our message of hope? Are we just afraid that we can not do it? I know the word says “I can do ALL things through CHRIST who strengthens me”. You get that? ALL THINGS! Not SOME things, ALL THINGS. If it is Christ’s will that you share your faith (and it is see Matt 29:18, Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8) then He will strengthen you when you goto share His good news.

So to that end, I am calling November the “Month of Prayer for the Harvest Fields”. And I ask you to join me wherever you are during your prayer time to focus on the lost sheep around you that God has placed in your area. Pray that God will give you wisdom in what to say and what to do. Pray that God will give you new opportunities to share the incredible Good News of a loving God and Saviour. Will you do that with me each and every day for the Month of November. The “Month of Prayer for the Harvest Fields”

Also, I have agreed that our church will join with other churches in our Nation in fasting one day of November. We will be fasting Thursday November 11th and our focus will be to ask God to send us to the Harvest field. The church will be open from 6am until 10pm for those who would like to come and spend some time praying corporately for this.

Lets pray that the Lord of the Harvest sends out us His workers into the fields that are ripe.
